Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

To The Editor,

The Bruce House is painted! The Carriage House is painted! The Wilson-Phillips House is open for touring!

Be sure to come and visit on Sept. 16. As usual, the Community Church Service will begin at 11 a.m. with the announce- ment of our Pioneer of the Year. The fashion show is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. We'll also recognize out board members and the many docents who help us out for summer tours.

Our various vendors/ displays will be of historical nature apropos to our museum complex. There will be light snacks on the grounds. Local food establishments in Waitsburg will also be open for meals with menus displayed on the grounds.

New acquisitions on display at the Bruce House include the beautiful Bruce Family Story & Clark pump organ do- nated by Craig Funabashi, grandson of Evangeline Bruce Abbey, daughter of William and Caroline.

We also have gowns from the Wilma Shaffer Roberts collection - a "flapper" style wedding gown and dress and her "Ginger Rogers" dress. Many of the displays at the Wilson-Phillips are items and pictures that were in storage at the Bruce House. Includ- ed are harvest scenes; family pictures; Billy Thompson's Barber Shop; kitchen ware; military memorabilia; hats, shoes, 85 dresses; sewing items; bathing suits; scrapbooks; etc.

Are you interested in becoming a Historical Society Board member? If you love the history of this area, you are a person we need on our board.
