Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON -- The Dayton Booster Club held a back-toschool spaghetti feed and silent auction on Saturday, Aug. 18, to get a jump start on funding Dayton groups, clubs and teams for the 2012-2013 school year.
Booster Club Secretary Melanie Mings said the event went well. About 180 people purchased dinner at the event and there were take-out orders too, Mings said.
"It was a great success," she said.
Mings said there were silent auction items donated and sold and the turnout helped bring money in to the club to help support Dayton School District groups, clubs and teams.
Booster Club President Debbie Hays said all of the donated auction items sold and she was happy that everything donated was very classy, which helped the tone of the entire event.
"We had several comments that (the event) looked really nice," Hays said.
She also said there were a lot of volunteers who worked hard, which helped make the event a success.
Hays also said attendees were pleased with the door prize raffles, drawn about every 15 minutes, for donated items like Pizza Hut coupons, Blue- wood lift tickets and bulldog blankets.
There are already plans to do the banquet and silent auction again next year, Mings said.
The next fundraiser the group will be organizing will be the sale of yard signs supporting the Dayton School District. The signs will be $10 and anyone interested in purchasing one can call Mings at 520-3335. Hays said the signs say "Bulldog Territory" and she hopes they will help bring the school colors back into town and into the stands.
