Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Editor's Note: This letter to the editor is from Jim Davison, who was featured in the Heartbeat Column in the Aug. 23 edition for his volunteer work on the press box at the Waitsburg High School football field.
It is apparent that more questions should have been asked when The Times called requesting to take my picture. Regard- less, thanks to you and the others who had kind words to say on my behalf in the article which accompanied the requested picture.
The real story is, in this case, I just happened to be the person chosen to represent all who give generously of their time, knowledge and skills. The group work sessions on the press box always in- clude a few familiar faces as well as others who rotate as time allows. That is only one project which has lent itself to acts of volunteerism.
There are many other venues locally, such as the food bank, library, school, churches and Bruce House-to name a few-that have benefited because many people have chosen to generously do- nate their time. Opportunities exist in our area and region for anyone who is willing to share their time, knowledge and/or skills with others. Some may be waiting to be asked while others have stepped for- ward, but the help seems to be appreciated, whether a little or given regularly.
Thanks again for your recognition of volunteers in our community.
Sincerely,
Jim Davison
Waitsburg
