Sept. 12, 2012 Board Members Present: Ross Hamann, Christy House, Marilyn Johnson, Greg Zuger I. Call to Order II. Pledge of Allegiance III. Consent Agenda: Ap­proved IV. Reports Elementary Principal's Re­port: Dr. Carol Clarke *The elementary school had a meet and greet with parents *The Intermediate Classes are helping children learn to keep schedules and organize themselves, kids say the day goes by more quickly *The sixth grade class is heading to Camp Wooten later this month Secondary Principal's Re­port: Stephanie Wooderchak *The first pep rally was held Sept. 7 *A welcome back barbecue was held Sept. 12 *FFA students are busy at­tending fairs *The high school guitar class is heading to Wash­tucna *Homecoming begins Oct. 7 Athletic Director's Report: Stephanie Wooderchak *Jubilee students are having some eligibility issues *Interviews for the head boys' basketball coach po­sition will be Sept. 25 and 26, five or six people are interested Facilities/Maintenance/ Transportation Supervisor's Report: Colter Mohney *Press box, end-zone clocks and new speakers are in­stalled at the football field *A new wireless scoreboard will be installed in the gym Superintendent's Report: Dr. Carol Clarke *Server upgrades over the summer have caused techni­cal issues VI. Board/Public Comment: None VII. New Business School Meal Program Changes: Susan Wildey, Food Services Supervisor *New breakfast and lunch regulations are leaving some kids hungry. Guidelines will be stricter next school year. The impact of the new regulations became apparent when Wildey began actually dishing out portions of food to students. Enrollment Update: Dr. Carol Clarke *Enrollment numbers have exceeded what the board budgeted for. The district budgeted for 278 students and the district currently has 284. Sixty-two of the 284 are non-resident students. State Assessment Results: Dr. Carol Clarke *State assessment scores were not stellar, but show Waitsburg students perform well when it counts. FFA Trip To Natioal FFA Convention: Beka Adams, Student *Waitsburg FFA representa­tives will travel to Indiana Oct. 24-27 to receive a na­tional chapter award. The Waitsburg FFA chapter is in the top 10 percent in Wash­ington State. The board approved the out-of-state travel. Food Service Co-op Agree­ment: Dr. Carol Clarke *An agreement was ap­proved for the district to share food services with the Spokane School District Goals for 2012-13: Dr. Carol Clarke *Clarke had previously led a discussion on goals for the school board this year. She added some staff members wanted to add to the list to include the goal of running a maintenance and operations levy to sustain staffing levels this year. The board did not add this goal to its list.
