Sixth Graders Learn To Rope Like Cowboys

Jalen Sturgill in John Lindsey's sixth grade class practiced his roping on a milk crate last Friday at Dayton Elementary School. The students have been reading "The Red Pony" and Lindsey said he was happy to put some reality into the work of fiction. Several students struggled in the roping exercise, but Lindsey helped and encour- aged them with the assistance of cowboy Tony Currin and Dayton High School student Dakota Hayes.
