Bulldogs Can’t Rally Past T-O-R

OAKESDALE - The Day­ton Bulldogs football team struggled Friday against the Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia Nighthawks, falling in a shut­out loss, 34-0.

The Bulldogs were with­out their starting quarterback, Lowden Smith, due to an inju­ry, but Isaiah Lambert stepped and filled the starting spot, shifting from his normal role as running back.

The Bulldogs were able to hold the Nighthawks to one touchdown in the first quarter after a fumble allowed the Nighthawks to take the ball into the endzone at 8:41. The Nighthawks missed the kick for an extra point, bringing the score to 6-0, Nighthawks at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Nighthawks exploited Bulldog weaknesses, focusing on their passing game. The Night­hawks hit the endzone three times and scored one safety in the second quarter and the Bulldogs were unable to re­spond, ending the half with a score of 28-0, Nighthawks.

The Bulldogs came back from halftime ready to fight and hold the Nighthawks' offense. But the Nighthawks had other plans, throwing a 40- yard pass toward the endzone to score another touchdown, bringing the score to 34-0, Nighthawks.

The Bulldogs' defensive line held the Nighthawks for the rest of the third quarter but the offensive line was un­able to move the ball into the endzone.

In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs held the Nighthawks scoreless for the entire quarter. The game ended with a final score of 34-0, Nighthawks.

The Bulldogs ended the game with nine first downs while the Nighthawks raked in 15. The Bulldogs rushed for 128 yards, compared to the Nighthawks 190, but only passed for 15 compared to the Nighthawks 189 passing yards.
