PRESCOTT - The WP Tigers whomped Northwest Christian, 6-3, last Saturday in Prescott.
The Tigers are now at, 5-1, for the season.
Northwest Christian, also considered one of the best teams in the state, was caught with its head down last Saturday, allowing the Tigers to take advantage and get many shots into the net. The Tigers also had some solid defensive skills on display. WP goalie Sergio Gonzalez had 12 saves in the game. One of the highlights of the game was a successful midfield kick by Lino Diaz, who also scored another goal in the second half.
Ernesto Valdovinos kicked in a goal in the seventh minute and Jonny Escalante scored in the 13th minute, with help from Jesse Albarran.
At halftime though, the Tigers shared a 2-2 tie with Northwest Christian. With Diaz's two goals in the second half, followed by goals by Valdovinos and Rodrigo Gonzalez, the Tigers won handily in the second by four.
WP plays Ukiah on Oct. 4, Valley Christian Oct. 5 and Riverside Oct. 6, all on their home turf in Prescott.
