PRESCOTT - Jubilee Leadership Academy's larg- est fundraiser of the year will offer up a dinner and auction with big-ticket items and handcrafted wood projects made by the students.
The Christian school for young men ages 14-18 who face life challenges hosted this big dinner and auction last year for the first time and raised more than $10,000 for scholarships. This year, Rick Griffin, the school's execu- tive director, said he hopes to raise about $20,000.
The dinner and auction will be held at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 20 at the Cathedral of Joy in Richland. Tickets are $50 per person and include a catered dinner of tri-tip beef or herb-crusted chicken as well as wild rice and seasonal vegetables by The Country Gentleman.
The auction items will be on display starting at 5:30 p.m. The live auction will highlight wood shop prod- ucts made by the Jubilee students, Griffin said. This includes rocking chairs, cutting boards, wine racks, wall art, ink pens, corkscrews and bottle toppers. The auction is called Out of The Woods to promote the auction of these products.
Also up for auction are get-away packages to Ha- waii, New York and New Orleans, sporting event pack- ages to the professional game of your choice (NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB), golf spectator packages for the 2013 Master's and Bay Hill, award show packages to the Gram- my's and/or Emmy's, week- end excursions by plane, train or automobile, local area winery and tasting tours, restaurant packages including dining out for a week, guided hunting and fishing tours and airfare, hotel and ticket for two to the NFL's Biggest Game in February.
For those who cannot at- tend the event, they can still bid on items on the school's website: jyranch.org
The school runs smaller fundraisers throughout the year, but Griffin said this is the largest. All of the money funds scholarships for fami- lies who cannot afford to send their children to the leadership academy.
