Tigers Get Into Their Passing Game

PRESCOTT - Domi­nating from the outset, the WP Tigers beat the Irrigon Knights, 5-1, at home last Friday. The Tigers Tuesday night beat Riverside Christian in Yakima, 3-0/

The team's victories give the Tigers a, 10-2-1, record for the season.

"We controlled the ball from the start," assistant soc­cer coach Jay Potts said in a telephone interview. "It was our best passing performance of the year. We're getting bet­ter at that."

Senior Lino Diaz was the first to score in the fourth minute of the game on an as­sist from senior Jesse Albar­ran. The striker scored again in the 16th minute on a pass from sophomore Ernesto Valdovinos. Junior Enrique Balderas scored in the 36th minute on an assist from senior Aldair Escalante to put up the Tigers, 3-0, before the half.

Two minutes into the sec­ond half, Aldair Escalante himself put the ball in the net with help from Fernando Escalante and 10 minutes later, freshman Rodrigo Gon­zalez scored the fifth goal unassisted. After the Tigers fielded their reserves, the Knight scored their first goal of the game in the 67th min­ute. Sophomore goalie Sergio Gonzalez had nine saves.

The Tigers' regular season ends on Saturday, when they play Northwest Christian and Valley Christian in a double­header. The team's first play­off game against Northport follows on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
