Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
I am writing for your vote for Tom Bensel for Place 2 County Commissioner. I first met Tom at the Community Bible Church. My memory goes back to Vernon Marll, a former 20 year county commissioner. I once answered a phone call from Congressman Tom Foley since I lived at Vernon's during the summer between college semesters. Vernon spoke with the similar honesty, friendliness, open- ness as I have noticed with Mr. Bensel. Vernon was also a lifelong Republican and a member of the United Brethren Church.
I live in Texas since the army stationed me there after service in Vietnam. I love my hometown and attended all 12 grades in Dayton. My Texas wife and I spend 4 or 5 months each summer here and both of us changed our voting status to Dayton many years ago. We enjoy our beau- tiful friendly historic little town. We put Bensel signs on Vernon Marll's old model A pickup and our Big Red 1959 Cadillac and drove all around town.
Tom Bensel has served as county highway superin- tendant for 18 years, also in the nuclear field and now 7 years with the wind generator projects. These leadership roles will also give him the experience needed to serve as a well rounded county commissioner.
When I envisioned putting the Green Giant on the hill 20 years ago I needed help of many, many, students and local businesses and citizens.
Tom Bensel also realizes the importance of listening to and working together is vitally important in moving the city forward in the future.
Eastern Washington has always been mostly conser- vative Republicans and I am puzzled to see Mr. Talbott's signs on the street mixed in with 4 or 5 Democratic signs. Which side of the fence is he on?
Voting for a lifelong con- servative in Tom Bensel will be appreciated.
