TOYS FOR TOTS WAITSBURG -- The Annual Walla Walla Toys for Tots Campaign kicks off this week with 21 local drop off locations. This is the 65th year for Toys for Tots and the 6th year of the Walla Walla Campaign. Last year in Walla Walla, new unwrapped toys were distributed to 1196 local children from Dayton to College Place. Everything col- lected will be distributed to local children from newborn to 18 years of age. New unwrapped toys or cash donations can be delivered in Waitsburg at Waitsburg Hardware & Mercantile - 134 Main Street, Waitsburg. Also in Dayton: Inland Cellular - 151 E. Main Street, Country Cupboard - 330 Main Street. STORM CAUSES POWER OUTAGE DAYTON - Pacific Power Media Representative Jan Mitchell reported 916 Pacific Power customers in the Dayton area lost power last Monday evening at 4:45 p.m. The outage was caused by a tree with contributory wind, Mitchell said. Pacific Power was able to restore power to all but about 103 customers about an hour later at 6 p.m. The remainder of the customers had power returned at 8:20 p.m.

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER DAYTON -- Redeemer Lutheran Church is hosting a community Thanksgiving dinner at noon on Thursday, Nov. 22. If you don't have family coming or preparing a Thanksgiving dinner is a financial burden, you are wel- come to join us. A full Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served. Plates to go for shut-ins will be available. Donations of food, funds or volunteered time to help are gladly ac- cepted. DRIVE SOBER CAMPAIGN WALLA WALLA - As the Washington Traffic Safety Commission announces the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" holiday campaign, Director Grondel urges drivers to plan ahead. "Don't let a DUI ruin your holidays. Before you leave home for a holiday party, think about how everyone can get home safely. Designate a sober driver, take a taxi, stay the night." As part of the campaign, extra officers will be canvassing roadways between Nov. 21 and Jan. 1, 2013 throughout Walla Walla, Asotin and Garfield Counties searching for impaired drivers. The Asotin, Clarkston, College Place, and Walla Walla police departments, the Walla Walla and Garfield County sher- iff's offices and the Washington State Patrol will partici- pate in Washington State's first-ever Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

ELVES TREASURES OF CHRISTMAS DAYTON - Local first through sixth graders can come to Banner Bank on Saturday, Dec. 8 to craft gifts for their families. Materials will be available to make the gifts, which will range in price from 0.25 cents to $1. The craft- ing event will take place in Banner Bank's basement.

There will be live music from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday and after fireworks until 8 pm in the Weinhard Hotel lobby. Come listen to a variety of local artists perform your fa- vorite holiday classics. There will be a holiday sing-along from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Grain House Grill. Bring your friends and family and sing along to all your favorite holiday songs. Tuck Foster and the Mossrites on will per- form from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Friday at Thresher's Bar and Grill. Let this blues band help you forget about the world for a while. Retro Flash will perform at 8 p.m. on Friday at the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Retro Flash is jukebox favorites, classic rock, blues, and rockabilly: mostly from the 60s and 70s. Various Artists and Daergan Guy will perform from noon until late on Friday at Mace Mead Works. Various artists will be playing throughout the day. Blackgrass Records artist, Daergan Guy will be performing after the fireworks. Mike McQuary and Bobby K will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday at Skye Book and Brew. Mike & Bobby K are always a house fa- vorite with their acoustic renditions of 60s and 70s soft rock.
