NEW ATTORNEY IN DAYTON

DAYTON - Abbie Broughton Marsh has joined theNealey and Marinella law firm in Dayton. She was born inWalla Walla, the daughter of Bill and Zena Broughton. Thefamily lived here in Dayton until Abbie was age 12 and thenrelocated to Palouse, Washington. She graduated from theUniversity of Washington and the University of Arizona Col-

lege of Law. She practiced law as a Deputy District Attorneyfor 9 years in Riverside County, California. Broughton andher husband, Greg Marsh, and their three children now livein Dayton.

"I am glad to be back in my home town and this is a won-

derful place to raise our family ", says Broughton. Havingjust passed the state bar exam, Broughton was sworn in as anattorney at a ceremony at the Columbia County Courthouse.

DAYTON - Columbia REA congratulates three of ourBoard members who have recently achieved certification asCredentialed Cooperative Directors (CCD). These directorsare: Dennis Munden, Marc Armstrong and Eric Johnson. Allnine members of the Board are now Certified CooperativeDirectors!

Board Directors obtain the Credentialed Cooperative Di-

rector (CCD) status by completing five courses and passing alearning assessment. The curriculum focuses on cooperativedirector competencies needed to survive and thrive in the21st century. The courses covered included; Director Dutiesand Liabilities, Board Rules and Relationships, FinancialDecision Making, Understanding the Electric Business and

Strategic Planning.Any cooperative director who completes this certificationshows they have prepared themselves to better fulfill theirrole by obtaining training and education that is needed to do

an exceptional job for our members and employees.

SMITH HOLLOW SCHOOL GRANT

DAYTON - The Blue Mountain Heritage Society's SmithHollow School restoration project is one of 27 nonprofit or-

ganizations in north Idaho and eastern Washington to receivea grant from the Inland Northwest Community Foundation(INWCF). INWCF will award $463,116 to the 27 organiza-

tions.

The Community Strategies Grant Program is comprised of63 funds established by donors, arts and culture and environ-

mental preservation.

HOLIDAY GARBAGE PICKUP SCHEDULE

WAITSBURG - City officials advise residents Basin Dis-

posal Incorporated will still pick up garbage on Tuesday, Jan.1, despite the holiday. There will be no change in the pickupschedule.
