CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS
MOTION: 1) Move to approve the Commissioners' consent agenda items. Ap- proved.
After motion and second, Commisioner Tompkins of- fered explanation regarding the out of state travel request for his travel to Washington, D.C., where he will be representing the county as part of the Highway 12 Coalition group, to meet with state elected officials.
COURT SERVICES/JU- VENILE JUSTICE CENTER
Bates gave background on the following. WA State Penitentiary advised last year that they would no longer be able to provide meals for the county, to meet new nutri- tional guidelines. Costs are similar, except for a $15/day fee. County jail also advised that they preferred JJC look for another meal provider.
MOTION: 2) Move to approve the Court Services/ Juvenile Center's consent agenda item, approving a Food Services Agreement with the Providence Health & Services - Washington, dba Providence St. Mary Medical Center, as listed on the agenda and referenced.
Department update given. Provided additional informa- tion regarding therapeutic court, which is eligible to be funded by proceeds of the 1/10th of one percent tax for mental service services that has been enacted.
PUBLIC WORKS DE- PARTMENT
Mr. Glaeser provided an update: Gardena Bridge - best option determined to be t pursue independent analysis of current situation; Prospect Avenue going out of bid; other projects in right of way acquisition process; continuing to transition sheriff's vehicles into ER&R; routine maintenance.
Commissioner Tompkins asked about state funding for rural roads/counties, and Mr. Glaeser provided informa- tion.
PROSECUTING AT- TORNEY
Mr. Nolte requested a brief executive session re potential litigation 10:10-10:15 am
Mr. Nolte provided in- formation regarding a settle- ment agreement with FPL over radio system issue, and Chairman Dozier added some additional comments.
MOTION: 3) Move to approve a Settlement Agree- ment and Release between FPL Energy Vansycle LLC and Walla Walla County, as recommended by the Pros- ecuting Attorney's office.
MOTION: 4) For Clari- fication regarding salaries for certain non-represented employees, I would move as follows:
That for 2013, the 2012 salaries for certain employees appointed as deputies by the County Assessor, County Auditor, County Clerk, Board of County Commissioners, and Prosecuting Attorney, and County Treasurer, as elected officials, be increased by 2.16%. Approved.
MOTION: 5) After our interviews of all the excel- lent candidates and upon consideration, I would move to appoint Thomas Garcia to fill the vacant position on the County Rural Library District Board of Trustees. Approved.
Other: A billing for fourth quarter taxes for the 2012 contained charges for pur- chases for the Sheriff's office. The consensus of the Board of County Commissioners is to have the Sheriff's office bud- get pay for the taxes incurred. Approved.
