In Loving Memory Daniel E. Wood

Lifetime area resident, Daniel E. Wood, 78, passed away December 22, 2012, at Regency at The Park, 420 SE Myra Road, College Place, Washington.

Dan was born November 7, 1934, in Walla Walla, to Francis and Mabel Horney Wood. Although he lived in Walla Walla all his adult life, he grew up in Waitsburg and graduated from Waitsburg High School in 1952.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1954 and served un­til 1957. In 1958, he married Mary Ann Moro in Walla Walla. They later divorced. He worked for Baker Boyer National Bank for 31 years, retiring from his position as an Assistant Vice President in 1993. He also worked at Community Bank for six years, retiring from there in 2011. As a Family Counsel­or, he worked at several lo­cal funeral homes, assisting families who were dealing with the death of a loved one.

He was a very active volunteer throughout his life, and was a co-founder and former Board President of Blue Mountain Heart-to- Heart. He was one of the founding members of the River of Life Metropoli­tan Community Church in the Tri-Cities, including fourteen years as a Board Member and eleven years as Treasurer. Most recently, he was serving as a Board Member and Treasurer for both the First Congregation­al Church as well as PFLAG Walla Walla. He was also volunteering for Triple Point through the Children's Home Society. He loved photogra­phy and taking pictures of nature, flowers and his fam­ily and grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Davina and Mark Fogg of Walla Walla and Gia and Glenn Fluharty of Dayton, Washington; two sons and daughters-in-law: Patrick and Kelly Wood of Renton, Washington and Joseph and Taree Wood of Covington, Washington; his sister, Kaye Wagoner of Walla Walla; four brothers and sisters- in-law: John and Jill Wood of Starbuck, Washington; Jim and Denise Wood of Prescott, Washington; Jerry and Kelley Wood of Chelan, Washington, and Frank and Cheryl Wood of Texas; seven grandchildren and numer­ous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mabel Wood and his brother, George Wood.

The memorial service was held on January 19, 2013, at the First Congrega­tional Church 73 S. Palouse, Walla Walla. Cecilia McK­ean officiated.
