Regular Meeting Minutes January 15, 2013

The flag salute and prayer preceded the delicious pork chop dinner. 27 people were present. Lois Mettler won the 50-50 pot ($4.50). Dani Sylvester won the door prize.

Newcomers to Waitsburg, Ron and Dani Sylvester, were introduced. President Joy Smith con- vened the meeting at 6:55 pm. The minutes of the December 18, 2012 were approved as read. The treasurer's report was printed and on the tables for perusal. M/S/C to amend the by-laws to include the secretary and treasurer as voting members of the Executive Board. ONGOING BUSINESS Parade weekend-Gwyn Gobel reported that she and Walt will chair the event to include a parade (last year 59 entered), car show, shop- ping bag vendors, breakfast and family events at the fairgrounds. Commercial Club will sponsor and under- write the parade as budgeted for $500 and will help with advertising. Town Hall Fund Raiser- Doris Huffman reported that a Valentine's Day prime rib dinner will be served Febru- ary 14. Tickets are $20 per person. NEW BUSINESS New member-Port of Walla Walla. Visitor's Guide-Waitsburg has 4 allotted pages in the guide. M/S/C to allow $500 for advertising and Waitsburg promotion in the Walla Walla Visitor's Guide. SPEAKER Perry Dozier, Walla Walla County Commissioner, presented the program. Perry reported that the July 2012 thunderstorm that ravaged a three mile wide swath through the county caused $1million in damage. This bill was absorbed by Public Works. Chip seal project was completed; a Social Service Center Building was purchased after consider- ing several plans. The BPA building purchase was made with a $1 million grant from the state and $1million the county had for this purchase. Joy thanked April Gould for the dinner, the house com- mittee for set up and Patty Loosmore for donation of a relish dish. Carol Clarke, Superinten- dent of Schools, will be the speaker at the February 5 meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
