Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WHITE PASS - Dayton ski cross racer, Alex Naylor, finished a strong first place in the Men's 16-18 ski cross age group, last Saturday, February 3, at the Inland Northwest series of the United States Snowboard Association sanctioned race.
Naylor competes with the WOO Crew, a local riders team based in Kennewick.
Seventy riders registered for competition, including boarder cross for snowboarders in age groupings that included a four year old up to Senior Men and Women's divisions. The race was held on the Rib Eye run, serviced by the Basin Quad Chair.
The weather was clear, sunny and crisp. Snow conditions and the course layout favored longer skis and fast wax.
Other WOO Crew members competing included Emily Koehler, of Kennewick, finishing second in the Women's 14-16 ski cross age group, Jaymin Morgan, Kennewick, also placing second in Boarder cross, Men's 16-18 and BreAnna Morgan, Kennewick, who placed first in Women's Open class ski cross.
Regional USASA competition comes to Ski Bluewood, February 9-10. All riders who enjoy competition are encouraged to register and compete. Ski and Boarder cross are not timed events; the first rider across the finish line, wins. A typical race course is full of obstacles; jumps, banked turns, spines, and steps.
