TRICITIES - After a slow start for both teams, the Bulldogs surged through in the fourth quarter to come from behind for a win over Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars, 53- 48 Saturday.
The game opened with a slow first period. The Bulldogs attempted 14 shots to the Jaguars' 16 putting up six points from the field to the Jaguars' six but couldn't match free throw points to end the first period 8-7, Tri- Cities Prep.
In the second period, the Bulldogs put up 16 shots but only hit eight points before free throws compared to the Jaguars' 18 attempts and nine points. The Bulldogs put up 11 points before the half and the Jaguars put up 12 ending the half with a score of 20-18, Jaguars.
After the half, the Bulldogs started to dial in their accuracy to outscore the Jaguars for the third period.
The Bulldogs made 16 shot attempts for 12 points in the third compared to the Jaguars 17 attempts and 15 points but free throws leveled the playing field, ending the third with a score of 36-36.
In the fourth, the Bulldogs upped the intensity, holding onto the ball to restrict Jaguar possession. The Jaguars were only able to put up seven shots for nine points to the Bulldogs' 18 attempts and 12 points from the field. The scoring push boosted by five free throws pushed the Bulldogs ahead at the end of the game, finishing with a final score of 53-48, Dayton.
McKayla Bickelhaupt had 11 rebounds, four assists and five steals. Lexi Ramirez had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jessica Tate had three rebounds, two assists and four steals. Sarah Phillips had three rebounds, two assists and four steals. Samantha Harting had three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kaitlyn Andrews had three rebounds and one steal. Malia Frame had one rebound.
