Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
TOUCHET -- The Waitsburg Prescott girls softball team struggled with consistency in a tough game against the Touchet Indians Tuesday evening, falling 13-3 in five innings.
The team started strong, bringing the second batter around for the first run of the game but the girls couldn't keep up with Touchet's tough team.
Head coach Angie Potts said the team struggled with consistency during the non- league game.
"It makes (the game) a lot harder when you don't play the way you can play," Potts said.
Potts said sometimes the team plays solidly and without errors, looking like a state tournament team the way they should.
"Then there's days where we don't look like we know what we're doing," Potts said.
Developing the consistency the team needs is the top priority now, Potts said.
So far, only a few of the girls realize what they need to do to be more consistent, Potts said. But after such a tough loss, more of the girls will understand what needs to happen.
The team has two double headers lined up after spring break and will have to work on defense, Potts said.
Of course, there are still many good things the girls are doing on the field. Potts said there are some situations the girls handle well routinely.
"When we do that for seven innings, we look like a state team," Potts said.
