Dayton, Washington resident, Iris Mae Stearns, 84, passed away April 18, 2013, at the Washington Odd Fellows Home, 534 Boyer Avenue, Walla Walla, Washington.
Iris was born June 2, 1928, in Waitsburg, Washington, to David Wilbur and Mildred Hazel Casey. She graduated from Waitsburg High School and attended beauty school and worked as a hair stylist. On December 13, 1953, she and Gerald Stearns were married in Walla Walla.
Her hobbies included quilting and crocheting, but her primary focus in life was her dedication to visiting and checking in on friends, family and shut-ins. She was a member of the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church and 55er Club.
Iris is survived by two sons: John E. Stearns and Clarence E. Stearns; grandchildren: Stephanie McGee, Jared Stearns, Greg Stearns, Gracesun Stearns and Brailyn Stearns; two great-grandchildren: Shea McGee and Savannah McGee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Waitsburg Presbyterian Church. Pastor Brett Moser will officiate.
