WP Splits with Asotin Saturday

The WP softball team earned a trip to the four-team district tournament Saturday, after splitting a doublehead­er with Asotin.

In the first game, WP took a 4-2 lead early and held on for a 7-5 win. The Tigers had seven hits and committed 3 errors, while giving up 9 hits to Asotin.

In the second game, WP coach Angie Potts played some of her younger play­ers, knowing that the playoff berth was clinched. WP lost that game 17-10.

On Friday, the Lady Ti­gers swept a doubleheader against Colfax, with 8-4 and 15-10 victories. WP had a to­tal of 26 hits in Colfax, while giving up 14.

The Tigers begin their playoff run in Walla Walla Friday with a seeding game against Dayton.
