Congratulations to Miller

It was good to learn Rocky Miller has been appointed Columbia County Sheriff. Rocky's many years experi- ence and knowledge as a law enforcement officer will be beneficial for our county. Liv- ing in this county and raising a family and having an integral part in the schools, church and being active in the community is beneficial. How honorable it must be for someone to choose to remain local rather than move on to other areas just for advancement and promotion.

The county has been through some trying times, to reflect back to 2006 and the huge 100,000 plus acre fine, the crime and drug escalation and so many problems that retiring sheriff Walt Hessler had to confront. The insight and experience of a long-term resident is an asset in keeping a community together and I feel Dayton's future to be optimistic with the selection for Sheriff, Rocky Miller. Congratulations.
