-- Anonymous graduation speech
T hirty members of the Waitsburg community reached a milestone in their lives on Friday. After 12 years of studying together and playing sports together and just hanging out together, the members of the Waitsburg High School class of 2013 move on the next phases of their lives.
The Times congratulates them and wishes them well as they move on to the next level of their education.
That's right, young people; your education isn't over. There's lots more copying and pasting and Wikipedia ahead of you. Colleges and universities beckon for some of you. Others will go on to vocational or trade schools. In the 21st century, a high school education can only be the beginning stage of a young person's learning.
So far, Waitsburg's class of 2013 has earned a combined total of more than $64,000 in scholarships to continue their education. Many local businesses and citizens have contrib- uted to local scholarships, and we salute all of our neighbors who have contributed these funds.
Forty years from now, when many of these former stu- dents gather in Waitsburg for their class reunion, as they ap- proach retirement age, they will look back on the great times they had in high school and the great friends they made. No doubt most of them will be thankful for the wonderful com- munity they grew up in and all the support they got from their neighbors in sending them on their way.
