DAYTON - A special meeting of the Dayton School Board will be held June 19 to discuss potential school facility improvements. The meeting will be in the high school auditorium from 6:30 - 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
According to Superintendent Doug Johnson, the architectural and engineering firm BLRB Architects, has been hired by the district to prepare a study and survey to determine what potential projects the district might undertake. Representatives from BLRB's Spokane office will be at the meeting to give an update on preparation of the study and survey.
A representative from Construction Services Group will also be on hand to describe the role they play in construction and modernization projects.
Johnson stressed that no specific plans for building improvements have been established at this point.
"Decisions will in fact be made by the facilities committee using the study and survey information," Johnson said. "Many people seem to think the district has already made decisions. That is not true at this time."
During the public meeting, a tour of the high school will be given, with school board members and teachers acting as guides.
At 6:30, prior to the facilities presentations, the school board will hold a short business meeting. They will conduct preliminary business and also discuss the 2013/2014 district budget, which Johnson says is unfinished, since the state legislature has not yet completed its final budget.
