Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - The produc- tion team for the Liberty Theater's fall musical Peter Pan has announced their cast- ing decisions. Co-directors Leah Stockton and Kirsten Schober were thrilled with the many talented people who came out for auditions. "We were amazed by the number of gifted actors that we saw throughout the process," said Schober.
Chris Philbrook has been cast as Peter Pan, and Iris Turnipseed will play Wendy in the musical adaptation of the play written in 1904 by Sir James M. Barrie. The original 1954 Broadway production has enjoyed many onstage revivals due to the show's charming and magical nature. Liberty stage favorites Janet Ihle, Roz Edwards, and many more will return to portray the famous tale of the Darling children's adventures in Neverland with "the boy who never grew up."
Also present during auditions were Costumer Mary Luce, Vocal Coach and Pro- ducer Elizabeth Arebalos- Jagelski, and Choreographer Patti Jo Amerein. They, along with the Liberty's own pianist Jim Thorn, will be instru- mental in bringing this show to life.
The Touchet Valley Arts Council (TVAC) owns and operates the Liberty Theater. Following many years of disuse, the theater was reha- bilitated in the late 1990s and re-opened in late 2001 with a live production of The Music Man. Since then, TVAC has entertained audiences each fall with a grand musical on the Liberty Stage.
Peter Pan will open in mid-November, with tickets going on sale in September. The entire cast list and more information on the show can be found at www.libertythe- ater.org.
