Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON -- Do you want to play a greater role in community decision-making? Community Council offers you the opportunity to help prioritize community issues, to learn more about them and to influence public policy.
Thursday, October 3, Community Council is hosting an informal gathering in Dayton to explain how citizens are using its studyaction process to tackle regional concerns and to invite local residents to participate in this successful process.
The event will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Weinhard Hotel and is open to the public, free of charge. Everyone in the region is en- couraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Community Council Board members will be on hand to preview the next regional study, "Reducing Food Insecurity," to discuss the study process, and to offer examples of positive changes for which the study process has been a catalyst. Attendees will also have the chance to suggest topics for future study and action.
Since 2008, Community Council has been bringing people together to study important regional issues and serving as a catalyst for change in the region from Burbank to Dayton and from the Snake River to Milton- Freewater.
Four community studies have been completed. Topics have included "Enhancing Educational Attainment for Our Region's Children," "Value-Added Agriculture," "Reducing Gang Member- ship through Prevention," and "Improving Communi- cation among Citizens and Government".
