Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG -- HS MASS Band and Choir invades Waitsburg High School again on Wednesday, October 23!
About 250 students from a dozen small schools from Touchet to Asotin to Oakesdale send bands and choruses to rehearse and play together for just one day. Their directors have chosen music in advance and rehearsed it with them since school started. The band will number about 150 students, which is much larger than these students normally get to play with. The choir will also be large.
The music for this year's MASS is includes the choir singing the gorgeous "Dry Your Tears Afrika" from the Spielberg movie Amistad - the story of a rebellion on a slave ship. The MASS band will play the hilarious "Instant Concert" by Harold Walters and the complex "Ascend" by Samuel Hazo.
Expert conductors are Brandon Beck from Walla Walla University bands, and Dr. Jeremy Mims from Whitman College chorus.
The wonderful MASS choir and band concert is at 6:30 pm on Kison Court in the Waitsburg HS gym, and is open to the public. There will be an admission fee charged: $4 for adults, $2 for students, maximum $10 per family. The Touchet Valley community is cordially invited to this MASSive event.
