Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Lady ‘Dogs Beat WP 37-22

WAITSBURG - Saturday's pre-league girls' basketball game between Dayton and WP was a success for the Lady Bulldogs. Though the Cardinals were on their home court, Dayton girls won the game 37-22.

The victory wasn't as sweet as it could have been for Bulldog Coach Clayton Strong, however. "The game did not have a lot of flow to it as neither team shot the ball well or took care of the ball," Strong said.

"We are glad that we won a rivalry game away from home, but I don't think that we are satisfied with how we played and know that we can be a lot better than we were on Saturday," Strong added.

In a well-balanced attack, Lexie Ramirez led the Lady 'Dogs, followed by Jenna Phillips, Sarah Phillips and Sidney Andrews, all with seven. Chelsey Brannock and Samantha Fedderson each had five points for WP, followed by Paige Wood with four.

The Dayton girls also played Pomeroy in an away, pre-league game last Tuesday evening but lost 40-35.

The Lady Cardinals play their first league game on Friday at home against Asotin. On Saturday they play an away game against Walla Walla Valley Academy. The varsity tournament scheduled for Monday, December 30, in Waitsburg has been canceled.

The Lady Bulldogs also play their first league game on Friday, but not at home. Friday's game will take place at DeSales. Their first home league game will be against Tri-Cities Prep on Saturday, December 21. The girls' game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys' game following at about 7:30.
