Dayton Girls Defeat Asotin

DAYTON - The Lady Bulldogs played just one game last week, but it was a feather in their cap as things turned out. The Lady 'Dogs defeated the Asotin Panthers 46-35 on Saturday.

"I was proud of the way we played team defense," said Dayton coach Clayton Strong. "It was one of the best games we have had playing defense all year, which included blocking out the best that we have so far this year, and holding their best player to a total of two points."

Strong said he was equally pleased with how well the girls shared the ball on Saturday. The Dayton girls had 18 field goals, with 16 coming from assists.

Freshman Sidney Andrews led the Lady 'Dogs with 12 points, including four of eight shooting from the foul line. She also had 10 rebounds. Madison Mings scored 11 points.

"This game seemed to validate a little bit everything that we have been working on to this point in the season," Strong said. "But our girls know we can still get even better and still have a lot of work to put in as we go forward. But I believe that they are excited about that."

Dayton girls host Walla Walla Valley Academy at home on Thursday and play Saturday in Waitsburg.
