Commercial Club Gets Celebration Days Grant

WAITSBURG - Walla Walla County Commissioners approved a grant recommendation from the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee to award a $3,000 grant to Waitsburg Celebration Days at their January 13 Board Meeting.

The grant uses lodging tax proceeds to award funds to organizations that actively promote tourism. Priority is given to activities that increase tourism from November through March, increase overnight visitation to the Walla Walla Valley, and establish clear, meaningful, and measurable results of the proposed projects. This is the first time Waitsburg's Commercial Club has applied for the grant for Celebration Days. Club President Joy Smith said the funds will be used toward advertising.

Four other organizations receiving grant funds include: Walla Walla Chamber Music, $5,000, Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, $12,500; Shakespeare Walla Walla, $10,000, and he Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce, $4,500.
