Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
COLLEGE PLACE – As the Lady Bulldogs entered the fourth quarter, trailing Walla Walla Valley Academy by nine points, Madison Mings caught fire. In the final frame, Mings scored 16 of her game-high 22 points, including three 3-pointers.
Dayton outscored the Knights 21-4 in the fourth quarter to win the game, 39-31.
The Bulldogs played evenly with WWVA in the first half, and led 16- 15 at the break. Dayton struggled in the third, as the Knights outscored them, 12-2.
Besides her 22 points, Mings also pulled down nine rebounds. Sidney Andrews was second highest scorer for the Lady ‘Dogs with nine points.
The WWVA win came on the heels of a 52-33 Dayton loss to Asotin, also on the road.
The Lady ‘Dogs final regular season game is Friday night at home against rival Waitsburg-Prescott.
Dayton is currently third in Southwest 2B league play, with a 5-4 league record. The team is 12-7 overall.
The Lady ‘Dogs will next play in the District 9 Tournament beginning February 5. Sub-regional playoffs begin February 13.
