Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG – It was a tough week for the Lady Cards, who dropped each of their three games, to Colfax 43-11 on Tuesday, Tri-Cities Prep 63-37 on Friday, and DeSales 60-12 on Saturday.
The Cards struggled hard to score at Tuesday’s home game against Colfax. Senior Captain Chelsey Brannock said it was “good to get back on the floor” after spending two weeks on the bench recovering from a concussion, “We just couldn’t break through their press to run our plays,” she said. “We only shot three times in the second half, so we only scored one basket.”
Brannock was WP high scorer with 5 points and scored the only 3-point goal of the game. Kassidy Kuykendall scored three points and Heidi Miller added one with a free throw. Miller made the only free throw, out of the six team attempts.
Saturday’s home game against the Irish was equally disappointing; this time WP went scoreless in the second half. Kuykendall and Samantha Fedderson each scored two baskets in the first quarter for eight points. Fedderson made a third bucket in the second quarter and Brannock added a goal. With no fouls attempted, that wrapped up the final score of 12 for the Lady Cards.
The Lady Cards face the ‘Dogs in Dayton on the January 31 and Asotin at WP’s court on February 1.
