The Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task Force honored its 2013 Safety Super Star Award winners at a luncheon at Walla Walla's Masonic Center on January 30. The Force recognizes local individuals and businesses that excel in promoting traffic safety or projects that enhance citizen safety. Above: County Commissioner Jim Johnson awarded Waitsburg graduate Logan Dozier the Youth Initiative Award for an anti-texting campaign he organized and ran in May of last year.

Pam Alexenko received the 2013 Booster of the Year Award at Friday night's home basketball game. Booster Club President Ross Hamann said, "Year after year, Pam has been a true supporter of the student athletes for Waitsburg-Prescott. From photos she takes with her own time and equipment (and donates to the kids), to the countless meals and food items she prepares and donates for fund raisers; she dotes over these kids as her own -- making sure no one is ever left out! Her longtime support is truly deserving of this honor and annual award."
