Saturday Market Draws Crowd

DAYTON - The Blue Mountain Station Co-op Market hosted its third weekly Indoor Market on Saturday and attracted an enthusiastic group of shoppers. The market is held in the center community section of the Port of Columbia's new artisan food center.

When a Times reporter visited, camera in hand, several vendors were eager to show off their wares, and musician Heather Stearns was playing her guitar and singing. Soup was being provided by Little Dipper Dairy, a tenant at BMS.

Gypsy Girl Granola Owner Suzi Tasker, who is the co-op market manager, was on hand selling her wide variety of gluten-free granola. She is also a BMS tenant. Tasker was joined by Tami Miller of TamiJoy Farms. Miller offered farm fresh eggs, along with memberships in this year's TamiJoy CSA.

Rey Weldert brought his Rey's Roast Coffee to the Market for the first time. Rey has been brewing his fresh-roast coffee at his home in Walla Walla for several months, and said he will definitely be back at the market this week.

Teresa Hendrickson does business as Back of the Moon Traders, offering Native American style jewelry and accessories. She also was at the market for the first time.

Several other vendors were on hand that we didn't get a chance to talk to. But we'll be back.

Tasker said that more vendors are welcome at the market. "As a vendor we welcome you and encourage you to bring your craft, talent and goods to market and help us grow our Co-Op as we help you grow your business," she said.

The Blue Mountain Station Co-op's Saturday Market will be held each week until Dayton's outdoor Farmers Market begins.
