Bulldogs Chew Up Davenport

DAYTON - Dayton's Lady Bulldog basketball team outlasted a tough Dav­enport team to take a win in the first round of the South­east Washington District 7/9 playoffs 38-30 Saturday in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

Dayton jumped to an early 14-2 lead at the end of the first quarter, only to see it disappear in the second. The Lady 'Dogs led the Lady Gorillas by a point at the half before hitting a dry spell in the third quarter to fall be­hind 19-16. A quick couple of three-pointers by Lexi Ramirez late in that quarter put the Lady Dogs back in front, and they led 24-21 at the end of three.

Ramirez led Dayton's Scoring with 15, followed by Sarah Phillips with 11 and Madison Mings with eight. Mings also had six rebounds for the Lady 'Dogs.

Northwest Christian 65, Dayton 38

SPOKANE - On Mon­day night, the Northwest Christian Crusaders came out smoking against an overmatched Lady Bulldog team, in the second round of the district playoffs here.

NWC led 21-5 at the end of the first quarter and were up 39-19 at the half. The Bulldogs trailed by 31 at the end of three.

The Dayton girls had bal­anced scoring, with Sarah Phillips scoring eight points and Lexi Ramirez, Madison Mings all Shayla Currin all with six. Sidney Andrews had six rebounds for the Lady 'Dogs.

The Lady Bulldogs con­tinue their playoff run with a game Friday in Spokane at Mead HS against St. Georges. The Game starts at 8:30 p.m. Win or lose, the Dayton girls will play again Saturday at Mead. If they win at least one of their games, they will move onto the regional playoffs the fol­lowing weekend.
