SPOKANE - The Dayton Girls' Basketball team ran up against a tough pair of northern opponents last weekend at District 7/9 playoffs, and ended their season with two losses.
St. Georges 52, Dayton 33
Friday night, against St. Georges, the Lady Bulldogs fell behind early, trailing 11-5 at the end of one. Dayton trailed by seven at the half, but the Dragons blew the game open in the third quarter, with a 22-12 run.
Guard Lexie Ramirez led the Lady 'Dogs with 14 points, including two three- pointers. Sidney Andrews added seven. Andrews also excelled on the boards, with eight rebounds.
The loss put the Lady 'Dogs into the losers' bracket on Saturday.
Lind-Ritzville-Sprague 51, Dayton 34
Against LRS, the Dayton girls continued to struggle, with a season-ending loss of 51-34. They hung in the game for three quarters, trailing 23-17 at the half and 33- 28 after three. But the Broncos' height and experience were too much in the fourth quarter, and LSR ran away with the game, outscoring Dayton 18-6.
Lexie Ramirez again led the scoring for Dayton with 11, followed by Madison Mings with eight. Mings also had eight rebounds.
