Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Dear Editor,
Once again, there is a small group of people that are working hard to bring our Annual Celebration Days to our city on May 16-18, 2014. Historically, these events replace our Days of Real Sport weekend. The events traditionally highlight what a wonderful little city we are. We welcome visitors and family to share in our many events. And it has proven to be one of the most successful weekends for our businesses in our community.
Here's the issues facing these volunteers attempting to pull the weekend together.
#1: Volunteers are needed! Everyone likes the weekend, but few volunteers step up to help. No volunteer is asked to take responsibility for the entire weekend. But individuals, businesses and service clubs are desperately needed to make this weekend happen. Please consider stepping forward to assist on just one part of the weekend. The organizing group has been meeting on Monday afternoons at the Waitsburg Business Center at 5 PM. Please join us and offer your services.
#2: Funds are desperately needed to support the weekend. We can't buy insurance, offer prizes, support a Court, have family and kid events, host a parade, etc. without the funds to do so. To address this issue an account has been opened up at the Waitsburg American West Bank for the Celebration Days Weekend, and Deanne Johnson has volunteered to serve as Treasurer this year. We are in the process of applying for a Tax- Exempt Status from the IRS for a base to build the financial support for our Celebration Day Weekend. Your donations will make a difference for this year and help build a foundation for the years to follow.
We can make this happen, please step up to help! Your help is needed and appreciated. See you at the Monday meetings and donations may be sent to Waitsburg Celebration Days, Deanne Johnson, Treasurer, P. O. Box 186, Waitsburg, WA 99361.
