ASOTIN - The Lady 'Dawgs dropped two in their first league game of the season - a double header against Asotin on Saturday, March 29.

Lexus Ward pitched and Madison Mings caught through both games. Dayton scored one run in the first inning of game one but failed to make a second run. The Lady 'Dawgs had four hits and five errors in game one, and left the field with a score of 9-1. Asotin had nine hits and zero errors for the game. "Asotin hit the ball very well with several extra base hits," said Assistant Coach Desirae Jones. "We needed to have solid defense in order to stay competitive and we did not do that."

Dayton narrowed the gap in game two, dropping the game 6-4. Dayton scored consistently throughout the game, with a total of nine hits and four errors. Asotin scored two runs in innings one three and five, with a total of seven hits and one error.

"Our bats showed up in the second game and we had a chance to stay with them, but we fell short. Torry Johnson was three for three in the second game and Sarah Phillips had four hits for the day with her career first home run. Lexus pitched well - she had seven strikeouts and just two walks for the day," said Jones.

Phillips made two hits in game one, with Ward and Samii Bledsoe making one each. In game two, Johnson made three hits, Phillips made two (one HR), and Madison Mings, Ward and Courtney Mings made one each.
