Walla Walla County Tire Collection Event

WALLA WALLA COUNTY - County residents will be able to dispose of old tires for free on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the gravel lot on Tausick Way across from the Mill Creek Sports Complex. If trucks fill up before 3 p.m. on Sunday, the event will close early that day.

Participants must provide proof of residency by showing a valid Driver's License, utility bill or County property tax statement with a Walla Walla County address. Residents may dispose of up to 10 regular-sized car, light truck, or motorcycle tires per address per day. Tractor and large truck tires, tires over 36 inches or tires on wheels will not be accepted. Tires will not be accepted from non- residential sources.

Residents are reminded to make sure their load is secured before using the roadways. Tire collection events in Walla Walla County over the last three years have gathered over 9,000 tires that were sent to a recycling facility in Portland. Recycled tires are used for a wide variety of re-manufactured items such as parking bumpers, door mats, and landscaping materials.

The event is sponsored by the Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency with funding support from the Department of Ecology. Walla Walla County is contributing the use of the lot where the event will take place.
