Judge Acey to Retire This Month

ASOTIN - Judge William D. Acey announced his retirement as Superior Court Judge for Washington's Hells Canyon Circuit on March 31. His retirement will take effect April 30.

Judge Acey has served in that position, which covers Asotin, Columbia and Garfield Counties, for 13 years.

In his Letter of Resignation to Governor Jay Inslee, Acey said, "I appreciate the confidence the citizens of the Hells Canyon Circuit have reposed in me the last 31 years."

Prior to being elected to his current position in 2000, Acey served as Asotin County District Court Judge for 13 years, and spent five years in the Asotin County Prosecutor's Office.

Governor Inslee is expected to appoint a replacement judge to serve in Acey's position for the rest of 2014. An election will be held in November to select a judge to serve the final two years of Acey's current term.
