Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Golf Course has New Operator

DAYTON - Major changes are underway at the restaurant next to the first green at the Dayton golf course. Chase Hudson and his mother, Louann Truesdale, opened the new LC at the Green on April 1.

"We got the keys two weeks before we opened," said Hudson. "We were in here late every night working on it."

During a visit by The Times, Hudson described the changes already made to the restaurant. A new counter was added onto the existing front counter. The floors were stripped to the concrete, which has been stained and finished. Two flat screen TVs have been mounted at the east end of the room.

The restaurant is now open six days a week, serving breakfast and lunch. Hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The restaurant is closed Tuesdays.

For now it will be open only during the spring, summer and fall golf season. "We're planning to talk with the golf club board and the county commissioners about opening year-round," Hudson said.

Hudson said the menu for the new restaurant will feature bistro-style meals at family-friendly prices. He and Truesdale are planning to provide a place where families and groups can have affordable functions.

Customers will be able to watch live sporting events on two big-screen TVs. Tables and chairs have also been set up in the courtyard in front of the restaurant.

Hudson said he hopes to expand the business into catering, renting golf carts and possibly doing grounds maintenance.

"We want to provide a variety of employment opportunities for young people in Dayton," he said. "There are not a lot of jobs around here for youth right now.

LC at the Green will have an open house celebration May 1.
