Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - The Dayton Bulldogs baseball team hosted Tri-Cities Prep in a double header on Saturday, winning the first game 5-3, before falling in the nightcap, 11-3.
In the first game, pitcher Lowden Smith gave up only four hits, and held the Jaguars to one run through six innings, before giving up a pair in the seventh.
At the plate, the Bulldogs struggled until the fifth inning, when Christian Warner stroked a two-run double, followed by a two-run single by Smith. In the fourth inning, Logan Hays tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single. Seven Dayton players had one hit each, but it was enough for the victory.
In the second game, starting pitcher Guy Spalinger struggled, giving up six runs in the first and three in the second, before he was replaced by Warner. TCP held the Bulldogs to three hits on the game. Two of those came from Warner.
