DAYTON - The track and field meet held here Wednesday, featured mostly athletes who did not qualify for Thursday's Meet of Champions in Lewiston.
For WP, freshman Joe Leamy had a big day in Dayton, finishing 3rd in the 100 meter dash, 2nd in the 200 meters and 3rd in the high jump. All three were personal records. Leamy was also part of WP's winning 4X400 relay team.
"We gave him athlete of the meet, as he led our team in points that day with 22.5," said WP coach Jeff Bartlow.
WP Freshman Nick Wilson took 4th in both the 800 and 1,600 meter runs. He also anchored the winning 4X400 relay team. "Just an overall good day," Bartlow said of Wilson's performances.
For WP's girls, Kassidy Kuykendall won the 400 meters and took 2nd in the 200 meters. Her teammate Blanca Quiroz was 5th in the 100 meters, 6th at 200 meters and 2nd in the 400 meters. Meara Baker was 3rd in the shot put and 5th in the discus. Selina Benito was 3rd in the javelin.
For Dayton, Oscar Teixeira, who also ran in Lewiston, won the 100 meter dash. Levi Laib had a good day, finishing 4th in the 100 meters and 3rd in the 800 meters.
In the field events for Dayton, junior Matthew Warren finished 5th in both the discus and triple jump. Freshman Cal Martin was 6th in the shot put, 9th in discus and 8th in the javelin.
For the girls, Kaitlyn Andrews won both the javelin and the triple jump. Andrews was scheduled to compete in Lewiston, but was unable to make the trip.
Freshman Kianna Price won the 800 meters for Dayton.
