Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
LEWISTON - The Meet of Champions, held here last week, brought together the top track and field athletes from five southeast Washington schools and 17 Idaho schools. Waitsburg- Prescott brought 12 athletes to the meet, and Dayton brought one - sprinter and hurdler Oscar Teixeira.
WP's Kobie Brown got the lone victory for local teams, winning the high jump with a personal record of six feet even. Brown also finished 8th in the 100 meter hurdles.
Teixeira, an exchange student from Finland who is new to track, had two strong performances: finishing 11th in the 100 meter dash and 9th in the 110 meter hurdles.
For WP, Owen Lanning set a personal record in the triple jump, at 41 feet, seven inches. It was good enough for third place in a very strong field. Lanning also placed 4th in the 110 hurdles, with another PR, and was 7th in the 300 meter hurdles. He anchored the 6th-place 4X400 relay team as well.

Adams represented WP well on the girls side. Beka beat her personal best in the discus by six feet with a 90 foot, nine inch throw. It was good enough for 7th place.
Emily Adams set personal records in all three events she entered in Lewiston: 800 meters (8th place) 1,600 meters (5th place) and triple jump (7th place).
