ASOTIN - WP's softball team fell 5-1 against the Asotin Panthers in a May 13 loser-out league play game. The Lady Tigers improved greatly over their 10-1 and 10-2 double header loss games to the Panthers just days earlier, but not enough to take a win and extend their season.
WP scored in the third inning on a base hit by Lexi
Brannock who made it to second on an Asotin throwing error. Brannock moved to third on a sacrifice hit by Analise Salazar and was brought in on a base hit by
Caitlin Mohney, scoring the first run of the game. The
Panthers scored in inning four to tie the game, then held WP scoreless, while making four more runs in innings five and six to win the game.
" Overall we played well and played together as a team," said Coach Angie Potts. " Jaidyn Brown pitched a really good game and did a good job of limiting the Asotin hitters compared to Saturday's game when they had 18 and 15 hits in each game. Heidi Miller will be tough to replace next year as she has been solid at third base and has shown some great leadership but she's also our only senior that we lose. If the girls work hard this summer we'll see some exciting things next spring."
