Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
MOSCOW, Ida. - Dayton's Kaitlyn Andrews will compete in four events this weekend in the State 2B Championship Track and Field Meet in Cheney. Andrews won both the javelin and long jump events at the 2B District 9 Championships here last week. She also took second in both the 100 meters and triple jump.
Andrews is in the top ten among female 2B athletes in the state this year in all four of those events. She has the second-best 2B long jump, at 16 feet, eight inches.
On the boys side, Dayton's Oscar Teixeira qualified for state in both the 100 meters and 110 meter hurdles. Teixeira placed third in the hurdles, behind WP's Kobie Brown and Owen Lanning.
In the 100, Teixeira, an exchange student from Finland, finished fourth. But the winner of that event at Districts is unable to compete at State, so Teixeira becomes one of the top three qualifiers.
Complete results from the 2B District 9 meet last week are shown on Page 8.
