Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - Spectators are invited to come and enjoy a new event in Dayton: a Barrel Racers National 4D meet. Barrel races will be held starting at 1 p.m. Saturday in the arena at the Columbia County Fairgrounds.
Organizer Lee Ann Litteral says that competitors from around the northwest are expected to participate. They will be competing the previous day in Kennewick.
Participants pay an entry fee to race, and then compete for season points as well as cash prizes. A portion of the proceeds will go toward funding midway activities at this year's Columbia County Fair.
Races are held in several age and experience divisions, including open, senior, youth novice and pee wee. A special race will be held for members of the local Valley Girls Barrel Racing Association only.
Admission into the arena for spectators will be free.
