Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
I am proud to be an American! I can do many things to show my pride. One way, is by respecting our flag and by saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Another way I can show my patriotism is by honoring our veterans. I can also study history so that I can learn how our great nation started and about the people who make it great.
When I say the Pledge of Allegiance I show my pride when I stand up, hold my hand on my heart, and focus on the words that I am saying. I can show that I am proud by respecting our flag. I can hang it up in the front yard and not let it touch the ground when I hold it in my clubs like Awana and 4-H. I can also show my pride by looking at the flat with respect whenever I see it.
I can show my pride when I see a veteran memorial by thinking of the men who it was built for, standing up for what they believed in and by not letting the America that they fought for fade away. On Memorial Day I can attend the services and hang my flag at half-mast to show my patriotism.
I can learn the history of American and talk with my friends about it; how our nation was founded, and the great men who built it. I can also show that I am proud by thanking God every day for the history of our nation and for the great men like Charles C. Coffin who wrote our history down.
I am proud to take on the name of American as George Washington said, "The name of AMERICAN, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism . . . "
