SWAT Team Leads Home Search

DAYTON - The Columbia County Sheriff's Office, with the help of the Walla Walla SWAT team, searched a home at 119 E. Commercial St. on Monday. The execution of the search warrant resulted in the arrest of three people, including two on drug charges.

According to a press release issued by the Sheriff's Office, "Multiple occupants were in the home at the time the search was executed; three arrests were made without incident. Deputies located firearms and a substance that appears to be methamphetamine in the home. Deputies found no indication that the meth was being manufactured in the home."

George W. Waltermire, 60, of Dayton, and Deloris L. Elder, 50, of Dayton, were arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. Waltermire is being held in the Columbia County Jail. Elder is being held in the Garfield County Jail in Pomeroy. Both were being held Tuesday on $7,500 bail, pending hearing.

Also taken into custody was 30-year-old Mindy L. Hopwood, who was arrested on a felony warrant from Benton County. No local charges were filed on Hopwood. She was released on bail a few hours after her arrest.
