MISSOULA CHILDREN’S THEATRE

DAYTON - Dozens of children auditioned last week for parts in Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) production of Rapunzel. Each summer MCT interns visit Dayton complete with scenery, props, costumes and makeup. The interns spend the week rehearsing with local children, ages 6-18, to prepare a live musical production. Performances of Rapunzel will take place Friday and Saturday night, August 15-16, at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Theater.

The week-long summer camp helps young actors develop skills in social interaction, goal achievement, communication and self-esteem. Many local young thespians have gotten their start in MCT productions, before going on to participate in Touchet Valley Acting Council's live theater productions. The MCT visit is made possible through grants and donations from the Blue Mountain Community Foundation Columbia County Fund, Inland Northwest Community Foundation, Portland General Electric and Dayton PTSO.

MCT productions are always full of surprises. In this version, Rapunzel meets ogres, wood elves, unicorns, a troll and the three billy goats gruff in her attempt to escape from Madame Gothel. The fun and silly tale is enjoyable for all ages. Tickets are $5 to $8, depending on seating, and may be purchased at the Liberty Theater box office or online at www.libertytheater.org.
