JEAN BEECHINOR

Edna Jean Beechinor passed away peacefully on July 28, 2014 at age 87 in Richland, WA surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2014, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Humane Society or Pets Over Population Prevention ( P.O.P.P). Please send contributions to the funeral home.

She was born in Colville, WA on June 11, 1927. While she was still a baby, her family moved to Milwaukie, WI, where she lived through her high school years until her family moved back to Walla Walla, WA, so that her father could take a position with the Veterans Hospital after the outbreak of WWII.

Upon arriving in Walla Walla she began working as a medical aid at a hospital run by the Civil Defense Administration at the Walla Walla airport. She spent the rest of her working life in the medical and dental fields ending her career after several years of service as a medical assistant to Dr. Roger Hevel in Waitsburg.

She married Everett Beechinor, who adopted her two children from a previous marriage, and the combined family moved to Waitsburg in 1965 where she later retired. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, her many grandchildren, and animals like the beloved Axelrod. After retirement she enjoyed many years of participation with Everett in the Walla Walla Antique Car Club, and especially caring for a little neighbor girl for several years.

She is survived by sister Phyllis Davids (Ray) of Longview, WA, daughter Kay Haralson of Fair Oaks, CA, daughter Carrie Potts (Landis) of Kalama, WA, Son Michael Beechinor (Susan) of Bellevue, WA, daughter Barbara Colby (Ken) of Richland, WA, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a trusted friend and companion, Eston Thomas.

She was preceded in death by husband Everett Beechinor, son Tandy Beechinor, Daughter Mary Pearson and Sonin Law Ken Haralson.
